Joe Garner
TOWN fans are yet to see the real Joe Garner.
That’s the view of manager Lee Clark as the on-loan Nottingham Forest striker pushes for a sixth start for the Galpharm side at home to Yeovil on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Lancastrian returned to the XI after three games on the bench when Town won 2-1 at Leyton Orient last time out.
And while he’s still chasing a first Town goal – and the 30th of his career – the former Blackburn junior and Carlisle player made a big contribution.
“We asked Joe to take on some marking duties as well and he responded really well to the challenge,” said Clark.
“Ultimately, strikers are judged on goals, and I’ve no problem with that, because that’s their main objective.
“I’m confident they will start to flow for Joe, and it’s worth bearing in mind that he didn’t play a huge amount of football at Nottingham Forest.
“We’re slowly but surely getting him there in terms of sharpness, and I’m more than pleased with him so far.”
