Huddersfield Town will get better and better predicts Steve Black

STEVE BLACK believes League I is the tightest division in English senior football – but insists Town have what it takes to climb out of it.
Results elsewhere were taking up as much of the performance coach’s thoughts as Town’s 2-1 win in the wake of last Saturday’s game at Leyton Orient.
Manager Lee Clark’s long-time ally was quick to comment on a 3-1 home win over Tranmere for today’s Galpharm visitors Yeovil.
Peterborough’s thumping 5-2 home win over Oldham, Carlisle’s 1-0 success at Sheffield Wednesday and Bournemouth’s 3-0 home defeat of Dagenham and Redbridge also brought comment from the amiable Geordie.
“The bookies have their say and supporters their opinions, but at the end of the day, you have to remember that the other dressing room also contains good people who work hard and fancy their chances of winning as well,” said Black.
“Few victories come easily, particularly in this division, because it doesn’t have the distinct different levels of the others, and you have to celebrate each one then move on to planning for the next.
“That’s what Yeovil will have been doing this week, and we know they’ll have been lifted by last Saturday’s victory.
“You look at the way Tranmere came here and admitted they set out their stall to contain us, which they did by getting a goalless draw.
“Perhaps they fancied their chances of getting a win at Yeovil and played more openly, and look what happened.”
Having hit back from two down to defeat Town 4-2 at London Road, Peterborough did the same against Oldham, this time going nap.
“There was a definite feeling of deja vu about that one,” commented Black. “You can talk about tactics and aesthetics, but at the end of the day, it comes down to scoring more goals than the opposition.
