HUDDERSFIELD Town have signed teenage Arsenal striker Benik Afobe on loan.

The 6ft tall 17-year-old, who has not played first team professional football, has joined the Terriers for a month.

The move provides cover for frontmen Joe Garner and Jordan Rhodes. Other strikers Alan Lee and Lee Novak are out for three weeks due to suspension and six weeks due to injury respectively.

Lee Clark said the arrival of the England U19 player would remove some of the strain on Rhodes and Garner. .

He added: "Benik is relatively inexperienced having not played a senior game prior to this move, but he will be enjoying a brilliant footballing education under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. He has great pace and strength and I'm confident he will do well for us."

Afobe, who will wear shirt number 24 and is available for tonight's game, will also be available for Huddersfield Town's upcoming clash against Cambridge United in the FA Cup when Joe Garner will not be allowed to play.

He is also available for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
