Huddersfield Town's game at Dagenham & Redbridge could go ahead

HUDDERSFIELD Town's match with Dagenham and Redbridge could be ON!

Despite atrocious weather conditions sweeping the country, the Daggers believe that their pitch will be ready for Saturday.

In a statement on their website, the London club said they believed if the ties was due to go ahead today they'd be able to manage it - due to laying a cover over the pitch before the bad weather struck.

A spokesman said: "This morning the covers were raised in a few key areas and the ground underneath is soft. If a game was being played this afternoon the club would have no doubt the referee would pass the pitch as playable.

"The combination of the pitch covers and layer of snow on top is keeping the ground underneath insulated and with the forecast of a sharp frost expected on Thursday and Friday night the club are reluctant to remove the covers until Saturday morning.

"Therefore we are asking for volunteers to assist in removing the snow and covers on Saturday morning around 8am.

"Could anyone available please email (info@daggers.co.uk) the club with a contact number and then someone will contact them either by text or phone on Saturday at 7.30am if their help is required.

"Bringing a broom would be beneficial too but the Club does have a small number of snow shovels. The club will provide the volunteers with hot drinks and bacon rolls."
