Newcastle United fan and Huddersfield Town boss Lee Clark: I'm fully committed here

Lee Clark after the final whistle at Millwall

HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Lee Clark is "fully committed" to Huddersfield Town - as his name was linked with the top job at his boyhood club Newcastle United.

Clark, who made more than 250 appearances in two spells for Newcastle United, was linked with the club after Chris Hughton and the club parted ways this afternoon.

Hughton had taken over following the club's relegation to the Championship and led them back to the Premiership at the first time of asking.

Having beaten rivals Sunderland 5-1 and sitting 11th in the league, the Newcastle hierarchy decided Hughton wasn't the man for them and sacked him, citing a need for more managerial experience.

Former Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill, former West Ham and Southampton man Alan Pardew and Clark have been linked with the role.

But, speaking to the Examiner, Clark said: "If there is speculation, it is not of my making. I'm fully committed to my job here."
