PETER CLARKE says memories of Millwall will provide all the motivation he needs as Huddersfield Town prepare for a second successive League I play-off bid.
Lee Clark’s side lost out to the Londoners over two legs in last season’s semi-finals, and the skipper admitted: “It was a horrible feeling.”
Twelve months on, Clarke is confident Town have what it takes to follow the Lions into the Championship.
“You look back two seasons and Millwall lost out to Scunthorpe in the play-off final, only to bounce back and do the job the season after,” added the centre-back.
“They finished third, like we will do this time, but came through by beating us then Swindon in the final, and they clearly used their earlier disappointment as a driving force.
“I’ll certainly be doing that, and without any disrespect to last season’s squad, I think we’ve got a stronger group now.
“We certainly won’t be complacent, but we’ve shown some vital qualities over the second half of this season, and they will be crucial in the play-offs.”
Town, who finish their regular-season fixtures against Brentford at the Galpharm on Saturday, will face the side finishing sixth, either Bournemouth or MK Dons, in the semis.
