NORWICH are in line to sign Anthony Pilkington after Town accepted a £2m-plus offer for their star winger.
The 23-year-old attacking ace sparked a chase from clubs in both the Premier League and Championship when telling Town he wanted to leave.
Galpharm chiefs received a string of calls after last Thursday’s shock news, and long-time admirers Norwich have come out on top.
While Town have refused to comment, I understand the Carrow Road club have been given the green light to begin talks with the player.
Pilkington, a £500,000 buy from Stockport in January 2009, hasn’t figured since sustaining a broken left leg and ankle dislocation in March.
But he is well into his rehabilitation, and has been running and taking part in light ball-work exercises without problem.
Norwich boss Paul Lambert is building up his squad for a tilt at the Premier League after guiding the Canaries to consecutive promotions.
Already recruited are strikers Steve Morison (ex-Millwall) and James Vaughan (Everton), Brighton winger Elliott Bennett and Leeds midfielder Bradley Johnson.
Lambert has also brought in young Belgian defender Ritchie de Laet on loan from Manchester United.
Now Pilkington, who netted 27 times in 107 games for Town, could be next to join up.
