Huddersfield Town striker linked with Oldham Athletic move

HUDDERSFIELD Town's Pennine rivals Oldham Athletic are believed to have been running the rule over a bid for striker Robbie Simpson.

The Latics are believed to be interested in securing the services of the former Coventry City man - but it's unclear whether it would be a loan or permanent deal at this stage.

Simpson, 27, who boasts a sports science and maths degree from Loughborough University, spent last season on loan at Brentford where he suffered a number of niggling injuries - a situation which curtailed his prospects at Huddersfield Town in the 2009/10 season when he appeared just 14 times after joining the club.

He was strongly linked with a permanent move to the Bees last season after scoring eight goals in 18 starts but the deal evaporated after the manager who took him to the club, Andy Scott, parted company with Brentford.

Scott is now manager at League II Rotherham United.
