HUDDERSFIELD Town become the third League I side to visit the Don Valley Stadium this pre-season – with Rotherham seeking their first win.

Andy Scott’s Millers lost 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday, when 5,581 watched, before a 2-0 defeat by Scunthorpe on Tuesday.

Now the former Brentford boss wants his new-look League II side to take up where they left off and deny Town a sixth win from six senior friendlies.

Scott, whose recruits include ex-Town man Danny Schofield, said: “We changed things round in the second half and were much the better side.

“Our back four went higher up the pitch, we got closer to the ball and had more energy. It was a good work-out.”

Having had three years in charge at Brentford, 38-year-old Scott has been at Rotherham for three months, and already made his mark.

He is in talks with former Port Vale and Carlisle midfielder Jeff Smith having already made eight signings ahead of Rotherham’s final season at Don Valley.

A new 12,000-capacity stadium is due to be completed within 12 months, and Scott would love to lead the club there on the back of a promotion.

“I want to build a football club again and put another promotion on my CV,” said the man who lifted the League II title with Brentford two years ago.

“Our aim this season is to win the league. I have told the lads ‘Don’t even think about finishing second, third or fourth – think about coming top’.

“I think we have a good enough squad to win this league and, with that, there is pressure and expectation.
