Huddersfield Town boss pleased with squad strength after beating Tranmere Rovers

LEE CLARK hailed two “terrific goals” as Huddersfield Town toughed it out to collect a third home win running.

The Galpharm side go into tomorrow’s big derby League I derby at new leaders Sheffield United in fifth place thanks to sweetly-struck goals by Gary Roberts and Scott Arfield.

Roberts, brought on for ankle injury victim Danny Ward in only the 11th minute, struck in the 24th.

Arfield clinched the three-point haul in the 79th.

“We created some very good chances and scored two terrific goals,” said manager Clark.

“Allied to that we kept a clean sheet, and I keep telling the lads that if we do that, we’ll always have a good chance of winning matches because we have plenty of goals in the side.

“We suffered a setback when we lost Danny, who took a nasty whack.

“But the players coming off the bench are producing the goods, and that’s exactly what you want.

“Gary Roberts struck a magnificent volley and Scott Arfield tucked his goal away very well.

“It certainly wasn’t one-way traffic, and Ian Bennett made a couple of good saves, but we are very happy and focusing on the Sheffield United match.”
