Huddersfield Town fans can drive us on at Scunthorpe United says Tommy Miller
MORE than 2,000 fans are set to back Town’s bid for five consecutive League I wins at Scunthorpe tomorrow – and Tommy Miller says their backing could be crucial.
“Glanford Park’s a tight ground, with the crowd right on top of you, so if our supporters can out-shout theirs, it will be a big help,” said the midfielder.
“We will go there with confidence, but we certainly won’t underestimate them, because they have some good footballers.”
Gary Naysmith is set to come in at left-back after Calum Woods picked up a fifth caution of the campaign, and therefore a one-match ban, during Saturday’s 3-1 home win over Preston.
It’s all ticket for Town fans, with 300 remaining and a cut-off for buying of 4.00 at the Galpharm office tomorrow afternoon.
Town stayed second after seeing off Preston and setting a new club record of 14 league matches unbeaten from the start of a season, bettering the 1962-63 mark.
The overall run of league matches without loss is now 39 and Miller added: “We’re playing well and long may that continue.
“It was a great three points in front of our own fans against a Preston side who came to attack, which allowed us to do the same.
“Jordan Rhodes got a superb hat trick, and his current scoring run is incredible, but we had to be grateful to our goalkeeper Ian Bennett as well.
“In fact it was a good all-round team performance – and that’s what we’ll be looking for against Scunthorpe.”
Town’s insistence that none of their prize assets will be sold during the January transfer window didn’t prevent scouts flocking to Saturday’s game.
Eight Premier League clubs – Blackburn, Manchester United, Newcastle, Norwich, Sunderland, Tottenham, West Brom, Wolves – were represented.
So too were regular visitors Ipswich and their Championship rivals Bristol City, Cardiff, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Leicester, Watford and West Ham.
Town’s home game against Brentford on Saturday, January 21 has been selected for live coverage by Sky and will now kick-off at 5.20.
