DEFENDER Alex Bruce hailed in-form Jordan Rhodes as a “great talent” after his stunning four-goal blast at Hillsborough.
The Scotland star scored two classy headers and then drilled home a couple of shots as Town earned a point from a pulsating derby.
Bruce, on loan from Leeds United and hoping to make his third appearance in Monday’s clash with Chesterfield at the Galpharm (3.00), cited the stoppage-time fourth as an example of why Rhodes is talked of as the best striker outside the Premier League.
“He showed great composure under pressure, finishing with the outside of his right foot. It was a magnificent goal,” said Bruce.
“It’s what Jordan’s all about. If he gets a chance, he scores. Players like that are few and far between. He’s blessed with a great talent.”
The last-gasp leveller came at the end of a match that ranks alongside May’s home play-off game against Bournemouth as one of the best of recent years.
It also revived memories of that fantastic comeback by Town to earn a 4-4 draw at Bury in 1991, when they had been 4-0 down.
Bruce said: “Both neutrals and supporters will remember this game for a long time. In years to come you’ll think to yourself ‘what a day that was!’
