KEEPING an eye on the progress of former Falkirk teammate Scott Arfield was a major factor in Murray Wallace committing his future to Town.
The 19-year-old centre back, who has joined Lee Clark’s squad for an initial fee that will rise to a possible £700,000, has been loaned straight back to the Bairns but says he cannot wait to team up with Arfield and the Town squad.
“Scotty made the same move from Falkirk to Huddersfield and since then I’ve kept an eye on the results,” said Wallace.
“I know Huddersfield are pushing for promotion and it’s great to join a club with ambition.”
While Wallace will remain at Westfield until the end of the season, he is not alone in making the move south with Salford-born striker Kallum Higginbotham also joining Town for an undisclosed fee.
And Wallace admitted the transfer had taken him a little by surprise.
“It all happened rather quickly from my point of view,” said Wallace.
“I first heard about the interest from Huddersfield about a week or so ago, so to come down and get everything signed is great – I’m delighted.
“I spoke to Lee Clark and what he said to me was a huge factor in my deciding to come here.
“Huddersfield are a great club with real ambition and I hope to be as successful as some of the other players who have been at the club recently.
“It has been very exciting to come to the club and have a look around the stadium.
“I’m really looking forward to coming here and playing in front of a big home crowd.”
