Huddersfield Town: Transcript of Lee Clark on Leeds United rumours at Press conference

HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Lee Clark met the media in his weekly Press conference this morning.

The boss, whose team face MK Dons in a tough promotion test tomorrow, has been linked both by bookmakers and the media with the now vacant manager's role at Leeds United.

Below is a transcript of the section of this morning's media briefing relating to the Leeds United question.

Questions are in bold.

Question: Just on Leeds United has any approach been made?

Lee Clark (LC): Not to me, no.

(LC's phone goes off)

LC: That'll be them now.

Questions (among laughter): 'Is it an 0113 number?', 'Is it a Monaco number?'

Question: But what do you make of being put among the favourites?

LC: I am aware of it, but ultimately it is the same as last time. I am not trying to blow my own trumpet, but it is because people outside our football club think I am doing a good job. I have been linked with a number of jobs over the past 12 months but I that that is because our record backs that up.

We have only two defeats in 53 league games, the value of the squad is hugely higher than when I came to the club, and the corporate side of the club is going through the roof which is only down to the way the team plays. I don't think I'm too bad a manager really and that's why people are interested I think.

Question: Is the interest a distraction?

LC: No, it is something I have had to deal with since I was a boy. I captained England schoolboys at 14 and Newcastle United turned down quarter of a million pound bids from from, etc., so I have grown up with it.

It's good for my kids, because they think their dad's important now.

Question: Would you rule yourself out of the running for the (Leeds) job?

LC: It's just speculation. Until I am told otherwise I am the manager of Huddersfield Town.
