Huddersfield Town's Naysmith hails impact of Kallum Higginbotham

STAND-IN skipper Gary Naysmith hailed the debut of new signing Kallum Higginbotham after the former Falkirk striker’s week was disrupted by bad weather.

Naysmith, who took the armband as captain Peter Clarke is injured, revealed youngster Higginbotham trained with his new teammates only twice before his debut.

But it did not stop the Salford-born frontman creating a goal for Jamie McCombe and causing problems with his trickery in a role just off Jordan Rhodes up front.

Ex-Everton star Naysmith said: “He only trained with us on Thursday and Friday because of bad weather. And on Friday we were only able to go for a walk.

“So Kallum’s only done one proper training session and yet his skill was there for all to see. He was constantly getting into positions that hurt the opposition.”

Naysmith though played down the frustration of another draw and added: “In some games, we’ve been disappointed to draw having lost a lead.

“But I don’t think we can say that about Saturday. MK Dons are one of the most comfortable sides on the ball in the division. They’re tough to play against.

“They play the ball really well through defence and midfield. Yet it still needed a fluke goal for them to score. And there wasn’t much we could’ve done about that.
