THE HUDDERSFIELD Daily Examiner launched a survey on the day of Lee Clark's sacking.

We wanted to know what your thoughts were on the dismissal and what was the next step for your beloved Terriers and chairman Dean Hoyle.

You replied in your hundreds and on the next pages are the results of your participation. Thanks very much for taking part and hope you enjoy analyzing the results and comments below.

There will be another survey starting today with new set of questions and we want to know what you think. Click on the image below and tell us what you think.

And finally your comments on the subject:

Clark had been given plenty of time, complete backing from the board and had effectively unlimited money but still couldn't get town promoted. People will talk about the 43 game unbeaten run and losing just 3 games out of 55, but at the end of the day the priority is getting promoted and Clark didn't deliver.

Clark had his time, to all the outsiders his sacking seems a shock but the majority of fans who have endured the drab football this season fully agree with deans decision

I think LC - had too may players to choose from this season didn't know his best team - no one player seemed in control how we played on field - and LC seemed to have lost some of his tactical awareness this season compare to last two - didn't seem to send the players out in 2nd half of games fired up as he had done previous. My choice of a new manager would be PAUL TISDALE at Exeter best manager had no money to buy players - team plays good football - gets best out of players.

Lee Clark's team selection, substitutions and tactics weren't consistent The team didn't seem to understand what was expected, they seemed frightened, there were too many mistakes. Teams with less talented players play more as a team. Town need to play with more control and confidence and they need to enjoy it more. I hope the new manager can do that.

Usual Terrier situation. Get into a great position and self destruct. Leeds Road/ Galpharm crowd have a lot tgo answer for when it comes to support. Some section had Clark hung drawn and quartered almost before he arrived. May the next incumbent take a long hard look. Watching this in dismay from afar, Townsville,Queensland, Australia---reach for your atlas!!Watched the TOWN from the terraces at Leeds Road as a teenager. You might take the kid away from the Terriers but you can't take the Terriers out of the kid. Now a fan, always a fan---but for God's sake Board----GET IT RIGHT. One last point--if the rumours about Clark and Leeds come to pass then well done Board, there's only so much Terriers fans can stand!!!!Am on bbc.com.uk daily looking for news. Final PS honest. What did Mr Warnock do for Town in the 90's?? I've forgotten!!!!!Good luck to the lads and all involved. I remain an optimistic fan in OZ. Wonder what ex Captain Kirk is making of it all? Could go on but won't!! email is blypeff@optusnet.co.au. Glad to chat Terriers witrh anyone serious.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lee's tenure as Huddersfield Town manager. He came across as a passionate man who loves the club. The football in the first 18 months of his time here was a joy to watch - however since losing to Millwall in the playoffs we have become route one and negative in our tactics. Long ball "hoof" does not get bums on seats and although we are hard to beat, we are a dream to any team with a tall centre half coming to the Galpharm to park the bus! Thanks for everything Lee and good luck for the future.

He was a risky appointment as he had never managed before. I always thought that he was learning on the job. Although eh did get better there were some strange selections at times and we quite often lolst games we should have won (NOtts County away Peterborugh and Carlisle away last season etc). We drew too many matches. He had plenty of budget yet we have continued to punch under our weight as a club for far too long 11 years below the championship level and never having made the premiership is not good (even Barnsley Bradford and Blackpool have been there!).

It's ludicrous what happened to Lee out of 55 games he lost 3, took the side on a record breaking unbeaten run and is still in contention for promotion. Dean Hoyle seriously needs to look at himself after that decision.

Huge gamble from Hoyle. The decision has received complete shock and outrage from the wider football community and you can understand why, whether you are in agreement or against the decision. Its a big, brave and bold move. Hoyle has to deliver promotion now or the decision will ultimately be viewed as a big mistake.

Lee Clarke has done a great job but i feel we were losing our way and need putting back on track.

A sacking at this time is basically giving up on automatic promotion - a seamless continuation is unlikely. Say all you like about the money spent, too many draws, the need to go up automatically but it is better than we have experienced in a long while. To condone sacking anyone for Lee Clark's record is as ludicrous as it is to reward bankers with huge bonuses. Lee Clark's future will not be hampered whereas, sadly, we will continue to be a club that is 'too big for League 1'. I wish Lee, Terry Steve et al all the best.

LC had done enough (IMHO) to deserve the opportunity to achieve promotion this season. If this wasn't achieved then it would probably be the time for him to move on. PS The above would be completely overridden if he had applied for the Leeds job.

We need someone who knows and plays our own system of playing, no more changes week after week - unless necessary by suspension or injury

Whilst most Towns were fully behind Lee Clark, he had been given more time and resources than most managers are afforded these days. Dean was patient, but he also needs to see a return on his investment and Clark simply wasn't doing that.

We have a fantastic squad, Clarke has been sacked because he couldn't convert that to a fantastic team. In his first season we played better football, in the last 25 minutes Tuesday we resorted to pumping long balls forward, even after Alan LEE was subbed. Clarke has also released great players, Simpson, Berrett, McDermott are/will all do a great job in league 1 at other clubs. Dean Hoyle must be gutted at how much of his money Clarke spent for little improvement in results or performance.

Squad needs a clear out to see the players that can do the job which is required. Too large a squad. Lee Clark kept chopping and changing. Keep a regular 11 (barring injuries etc). They must start playing as a total unit, long ball when neede but play football, there is a clue in the name of the game.

AFTER 3 YEARS IN WE HAVEN'T GONE FORWARD ENOUGH, OUR HOME FORM AS BEEN REALLY POOR THIS SEASON. THE FANS HAVE STUCK BY DEAN'S DECISION TO KEEP CLARK, BUT A LOT TURNED ON CLARK AFTER NOTTS COUNTY GAME, AFTER TUES GAME I WOULD SAY LESS THAN 25% WERE WITH CLARK. MOVING ON TOWN SHOULD APPOINT A MANAGER TILL END OF SEASON WITH A MASSIVE PROMOTION BONUS, THEN LOOK AT LONG TERM CONTRACTS, WARNOCK FITS THE BILL SHORT TERM, BILLY DAVIES IN THE LONG. HE'S SCOTTISH LIKE HALF THE TEAM!

Too many drawn games, team need to have a winning mentality like Charlton Athletic seem to have, they need a midfield general to orchestrate and guide the younger players that apart they have got some fantastic players which bode well for the future and that is down to some of the good things Lee Clarke and his staff have done,so find a manager with a winning attitude like Norwich did and we too could be playing in the premiership.

LC cannot be said to have failed in his three years as manager but nor has he been successful. HTFC's league position is only slightly better than in was in 12/2008. That said he was unlucky last season not to have realised promotion with 87 pts. But was never wholly convinced by his tactics and the constant swapping and changing of team personnel. He would say, I suppose, that modern football is a squad game, but did he ever know what his best eleven was?

LC was not a good man manager or a peoples person. In the end this is what has undone him. He needs some training in people management.

If steve Bruce comes back I'm supporting Leeds!

Clarke was typical Keegan Newcastle. Pretty football with no steel and no idea how to defend. Clarke never issued praise until it was too late.

Lee Clark has been an excellent manager for Town, he simply had taken the team as far as he could and was showing the strain and making mistakes at a critical part of the season.
