DIE-HARD Huddersfield Town fans have hit the road to Preston – two days before everyone else.
The group of six dedicated supporters shunned the official away travel to walk the 52 miles to Deepdale.
The group left the Terriers’ Canalside training complex on Leeds Road at 9am on Thursday and are due to arrive at the ground before kick-off.
They hope to raise more than £2,200 for the Keep It Up campaign, a joint charity for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town academy.
The three-day walk was the idea of season ticket holder Vicky Butterfield.
She said: "We all know each other through supporting Town.
"We wanted to do something for the campaign and when we looked at the remaining fixtures Preston seemed like the best one.
"It’s coming to the end of the season and we thought it would be enough of a challenge."
The walkers had just reached the outskirts of Darwen near Blackburn yesterday afternoon and were confident they would have no problem making it in time for the 3pm kick-off.
"There’s a few blisters and aches and pains," said Vicky, "but we’re not too bad."
