HUDDERSFIELD Town are eager to beat Leeds to the signature of Republic of Ireland midfielder Paul Green – but face a tougher task to bring his international teammate Keith Andrews to the Galpharm.

While the promoted Championship club are making no comment on transfer targets, sources suggest the midfield duo who are both at Euro 2012 are firmly on Simon Grayson’ radar.

The Town boss is also keen to bring in a centre-back, with play-off final hero Sean Morrison top of the list after shining on loan from Reading.

Yorkshireman Green, 29, who came through the divisions with Doncaster, is out of contract after four years at Derby.

Dubliner Andrews, 31, who started out with Wolves and has also played for Hull, MK Dons and Blackburn, has just finished a short-term contract at West Brom.

Both are in the frame to face Spain in Gdansk tomorrow as the Irish aim to bounce back from Sunday’s disappointing 3-1 defeat by Croatia in Poznan.

Andrews won his 30th cap in that match while Green, who was an unused substitute, has played 11 times for his country.

Their Euro involvement is likely to delay progress on the domestic front, but the signs are Town have a better chance of landing Green than Andrews.
