OLIVER NORWOOD looked ahead to Huddersfield Town’s latest friendly at Crewe tonight and said: “We’re ready to step things up.”
The Gresty Road clash (7.30) is the fourth of seven pre-season outings for Simon Grayson’s side, and the former Manchester United midfielder is relishing the build-up to the new Championship campaign.
“Training has been tough, but that’s what you expect in pre-season, and it’s important to lay the foundations for what’s to come,” said the 21-year-old Northern Ireland international, who has signed a three-year Town contract.
“So far it’s been all about fitness really, but going forward from here, we’ll be looking at more specific tactical stuff, and with the (Capital One) Cup game at Preston coming up (on Monday, August 13), there’s a real buzz about the lads.”
Norwood has figured in all three games so far – at Guiseley, Kilmarnock and Hibernian – and his only disappointment is that Town haven’t yet recorded a victory.
“I know people don’t really remember the results of friendlies, but you want to win every game you play, and that will be the same at Crewe,” he added.
