CANALSIDE will, in the not too distant future, be a gleaming tribute to chairman Dean Hoyle’s ambition for Huddersfield Town.

Work at the complex off Leeds Road – which will be the club’s state-of-the-art day-to-day headquarters – is cracking ahead despite weather hold-ups.

Simon Grayson’s squad have trained on the pitches behind the canal while work goes on elsewhere at the venue, which is open to the public.

“At the moment we are well on,” said chief executive Nigel Clibbens.

“We have suffered really badly with the worst spring and summer rain in any of our lifetimes, and we couldn’t have picked a worse time to dig up five acres of land and redevelop it.

“It is obvious we have been hit hard by the weather, but now we are seeing more sun we are cracking on.”

Just when the finished article will start to take shape remains in the laps of the Gods.
