LIFE without Jordan Rhodes will be just fine for Huddersfield Town.
That’s the confident prediction of Rhodes’ close friend Alan Lee, who is hoping to get the chance to face his old club Ipswich Town at Portman Road today.
The 34-year-old former Republic of Ireland international says he can thoroughly understand Town parting with their star frontman for £8m, especially as a quality squad is already in place and there’s power to add.
Lee said: “Jordan is a close personal friend of mine and, first of all, I would like to say on behalf of all the lads ‘thank you very much’ for everything he has done for the club.
“Jordan has been a pleasure to work with, but in football people move on. He felt it was right for him so we respect that, but we have some very good players here so we will be all right.
“It would probably be hard for him to replicate what he did last season, so you have to strike while the iron is hot.
“As it happens it’s a Championship club who was willing to pay Premiership money – if not more – and it’s a huge amount of money.
“I would have liked to have seen Jordan go to the Premiership, but he will make his way there one way or another.”
So what are Rhodes’ qualities, the ones which brought him 40 goals for Town last season plus eight for the Scotland Under 21s?
