ADAM HAMMILL gave an impressive debut cameo for Huddersfield Town and pleaded with manager Simon Grayson: “Let me fly!”

The 24-year-old Wolves flier – on loan with Town until January – went on for the last 14 minutes of the 2-2 draw against Ipswich at Portman Road.

And, even though he’d linked up with his new teammates only hours before, Hammill showed glimpses of the pace and creativity which Grayson first noticed when he had him on loan at Blackpool four years ago.

“I don’t know what will happen in the future, but I’ve come here to play as many games as possible and be involved week in week out if I can,” said Hammill.

“I’m no stranger to this league, I’ve played in it and done well in it before, so I’m hoping that the more I play the more I’ll show of what I can do – score a few goals and create more.”

Hammill now has a couple of weeks, because of the international break, to train with his new colleagues and get to know Town’s systems before a potential home debut against Derby County a week on Saturday.

“It was good to make my debut,” he reflected. “I haven’t forgotten how fast this league is, but the game still took me a little bit by surprise.

“I’m happy playing anywhere across the midfield, whether it’s wide or behind the frontman and, to be honest, I’d play anywhere the manager wants me to

“I know the manager well because I played under him at Blackpool – so he knows what to expect from me and I know what to expect from him, so it’s a good match. Hopefully I can eventually establish myself in the side under Simon.”
