HUDDERSFIELD Town defender Joel Lynch was only too pleased to let best mate Luke Chambers claim Ipswich’s equaliser.

The pair were teammates at Nottingham Forest last season before going their separate ways when their contracts expired in the summer.

Lynch grinned: "The ball might have brushed off me on its way into the net but Luke’s my best pal so I’m happy for him to have it.

"Knowing him he’ll probably brag about it for a while but he can have the glory for now.

"There’s another game to come at our place later in the season and we’ll see what happens then."

Lynch, who limped off with an Achilles injury near the end, shared his teammates’ frustration that James Vaughan’s penalty miss meant they had to settle for one point.

He added: "James is understandably upset but strikers miss chances and if another penalty comes along I’m sure he will be up for it.

"The keeper has done really well with the penalty save, plus a few others, but we have also defended well to keep ourselves in the game.

"It was a bit like a basketball game, back and forth all the time, and while we’ll take the point we are all disappointed it’s not three."
