DOGGED Huddersfield Town extended their unbeaten Championship run to four matches thanks to Danny Ward's first minute strike against Derby County.

Full debutant Adam Hammill created the chance from a pass by James Vaughan with only 49 seconds on the clock.

Ward finished off his low cross with a flick volley into the roof of the net.

It set Town up for a lively first half performance but Derby had the better of the second half without being allowed to create a serious effort at goal.

Town, too, were denied any other scoring opportunities as play was contained in the midfield, although impressive Keith Southern fired high after a corner had been flicked on.

Hammill received a standing ovation when he was substituted four minutes from time suffering cramp and the home contingent in a crowd of 15265 celebrated a second successive home win following the 2-0 success against Burnley.
