DELIGHTED boss Simon Grayson watched Huddersfield Town catapult themselves into the promotion places and declared: “That was our best performance of the season.”

Goals by Lee Novak, James Vaughan and Oliver Norwood gave Town a stunning 3-1 victory at Bloomfield Road as Blackpool were left reeling in front of the live Sky television cameras.

“The players are working tremendously hard for the shirt and for the supporters, and thriving on the responsibility of playing in the Championship,” said Grayson.

“We are not getting carried away because there are 39 more games to go, but it is nice to have started so well in this division and we are delighted with the result.

“Preparations start straight away for the Watford game because that’s how relentless this division is, but every individual stuck to what they were asked to do and we are enjoying it.”

Gary Taylor-Fletcher netted for Blackpool in front of a crowd of 13,886 but it was Town’s fans who were celebrating raucously at the end.

“The players are expressing themselves and playing with no fear, and we won this game not because of what we did with the ball, but what we did without it,” added the manager.
