HUDDERSFIELD Town remain the most likely suitors for out-of-favour Leicester City striker Jermaine Beckford.

The 28-year-old – who rose to prominence under Town boss Simon Grayson at Leeds – could be signed on loan up to November 4.

Grayson indicated after Monday’s 3-1 win at Blackpool that a deal for Beckford was not imminent but didn’t rule it out completely.

Former Leicester captain Grayson has noticed the striker has dramatically fallen down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium but remains keen on keeping tabs.

Town came close on transfer deadline day when Beckford was in Huddersfield and about to complete a loan switch – but City boss Nigel Pearson mysteriously called him back two minutes before the deadline.

Beckford appeared as a substitute in the victory over Blackpool the next day but has not featured since and was not in the squad for the victory over Hull on Sunday.

Contrary to speculation, Beckford has not had a falling out with Pearson but he is training with the development squad.
