New Watford formation gave better balance and helped overcome Huddersfield Town says Zola

WATFORD manager Gianfranco Zola said a switch to three centre-backs and the return of Fitz Hall made all the difference against Huddersfield Town.

With Nyron Nosworthy out injured, Zola started with Hall, who scored the Hornets’ second goal, Neuton and Tommie Hoban in the centre of defence.

"I don’t think it was our best performance but I will take it. On other occasions we have played better and not taken the points," said the ex-West Ham chief.

"There were moments where we played well but not as much as in other matches.

"We were playing tough opposition but created better opportunities in the first half.

"Despite going 1-0 down, we didn’t give up and won the game. I don’t think anyone can have any complaints that we won the game."

On the change of formation, Zola, whose side climbed to 18th in the Championship, added: "I was pleased.
