BIRMINGHAM won’t be appealing the red card shown to Nikola Zigic during Saturday’s 1-0 Championship defeat by Huddersfield Town – despite feeling the Serbian striker was harshly treated over his 74th-minute challenge on Calum Woods.
“At the time, from the other side of the pitch, I thought it was harsh,” said Birmingham’s former Town boss Lee Clark of the straight red card shown by Andy D’Urso which means Zigic will serve a three-match suspension.

“I have seen it since and he’s genuinely gone for the ball. He's slid in, seen the lad coming, and has actually tried to pull his leg away, which is very difficult. He has caught him, but it wasn’t malicious, it was a genuine attempt and I think it was a yellow card probably, not a red.”
Birmingham have agreed a short-term deal with former Senegal international midfielder Papa Bouba Diop, who has previously played for Fulham, Portsmouth and West Ham.
