HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Simon Grayson rejected four bids to take Scotland Under 21 defender Murray Wallace on loan ahead of yesterday’s Football League deadline.

The former Falkirk centre-back has yet to make his first-team debut for Town.

But the boss says he would have no qualms about pitching him into action.

“There was a lot of interest in Murray,” said Grayson of the player signed by his predecessor Lee Clark last January and loaned back to Falkirk for the remainder of that campaign.

“But we decided he is doing well enough to remain here and push for an opportunity.

“There are so many games coming up. You don’t want to leave yourselves short in any department.

“Four clubs asked about Murray. That shows what others think about him. Our response shows what we think about him and the way he is progressing.

“He is working hard and I would have no hesitation in throwing him in.”
