HUDDERSFIELD Town are appealing the red card controversially shown to Keith Southern during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Charlton – and boss SImon Grayson has the backing of opposite number Chris Powell.
The midfielder is facing a three-match ban, away to Middlesbrough tomorrow and at home to Leeds on Saturday and Bolton seven days after that.

Surrey referee Lee Collins ruled his 35th-minute challenge of centre-back Michael Morrison to be high and dangerous, a decision Grayson called “staggering”.
And Powell weighed in by saying: “It wasn’t a sending off, but an honest challenge. My player got there first, but I don’t think Keith Southern was high. He was unfortunate.”
Championship rivals Wolves had centre-back Christophe Berra’s red card against Watford rescinded by the Football Association last Monday.
And Town are hoping they are similarly successful after putting their case to the game’s Soho Square rulers.
Grayson is already without midfielder Adam Clayton at Middlesbrough.
The man who put away an 88th-minute penalty to salvage a point at Charlton had earlier picked up a fifth yellow card of the campaign, and a one-match ban.

In addition, there are continued doubts over injured trio James Vaughan, Jermaine Beckford and Sean Scannell, who all missed the match in London.
“That staggering decision affects a crucial part of our season, not just Saturday’s game,” added Grayson.
