OLIVER NORWOOD says Huddersfield Town have more than enough character in their dressing room to get the flagging Championship campaign back on course.

Simon Grayson’s side head into Saturday teatime’s Sky-televised clash at high-flying Crystal Palace chasing a first win in seven matches.

They have claimed only two points from the last 18 available, sliding from the play-off places to 17th in the table in the wake of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Hull - click on the link below to view a picture gallery of the game.

The meeting with Ian Holloway’s second-placed side represents the halfway point of Town’s first season in the second tier since 2000-01.

And Northern Ireland international and former Manchester United midfielder Norwood reckons Town have shown they have the bottle to survive at this level.

“The manager always said there would be ups and downs this season, and it’s turned out that way,” said the summer signing from Old Trafford.

“But we have a lot of character in the dressing room and some very good players, and there is still a lot of football to be played.

“The games are coming thick and fast over Christmas, and we know a few wins will make things seem a lot better.”

After Palace at Selhurst Park (5.20 kick-off), Town host Blackpool on Boxing Day (3.00) and Sheffield Wednesday a week on Saturday (12.30).

Norwood is hoping to add to his 19 starts (plus one substitute appearance) and three goals and hit consistent form as the second half of the season unfolds.

“I had a little dip, and you can’t expect to be in the side when you’re not playing well,” he admitted.

“But hopefully that’s behind me.”

Norwood is aiming to help topple a team led by Holloway for the second time this season, having scored when Town won 3-1 over at Blackpool, also in front of the Sky cameras, in September.

Holloway left the Tangerines to take charge of Palace in November, following Dougie Freedman’s departure to Bolton.

Holloway has five wins and three draws in his nine games at the helm to date, and Palace are 4/6 with both Boylesports and BetVictor to win on Saturday.
