LEE CLARK brushed off Birmingham City takeover talk and his return to Huddersfield and insisted: “All I’m bothered about is getting three points.”

It’s the Blues manager’s first game back at the John Smith’s Stadium since his sacking on February 15 last year.

Also returning will be Terry McDermott, Derek Fazackerley, Steve Watson and John Vaughan, all part of his Town management team and now at St Andrew’s.

“There will be a lot said as it’s my old club,” said Clark (below), whose side are 20th, three places and three points behind Town.

“But I’m determined to win the match first and foremost as we need to start winning games.

“I’m looking forward to the game as I’ll be seeing some old friends and because I’ve been massively encouraged by our performances, especially of our younger players, over the festive period.

“And I thought we were exceptional at Leeds (in the FA Cup last Saturday) and at home to Cardiff (Blues were beaten 1-0 on New Year’s Day.

“We didn’t get what we deserved in either of those games.”

Blues have won only once in seven outings, but Clark added: “I listened to (new Wolves manager) Dean Saunders earlier in the week saying that three wins on the trot can change things, and they’re only two points ahead of us.

“If they’re saying that, then it’s wide open for anyone. We’ve all got our targets, but we’ve also got to be realistic.

“It’s a case of turning our performances into wins.

“We haven’t had the rub of the green but, if we continue to do that, then I’m sure we’ll start winning matches.”

Rumours are rife that cash-strapped Birmingham, who have said they must sell players to stave off administration, could be taken over.

Clark said: “That’s being dealt with by the experts on the board.

“I just go about my job. I don’t get involved in that, as it gives me more problems than I need.

“I’m more concerned with getting results on the pitch.”
