FRAIZER CAMPBELL is determined to add to his hometown club’s woes when he returns to West Yorkshire with Cardiff on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Huddersfield-born England striker netted with only his third touch for the South Wales side to seal the 1-0 win at Leeds which put them 10 points clear at the top of the Championship.

It spelled a flying start for the new Bluebird, who was signed from Sunderland for £650,000 as the transfer window closed last week.

And it’s put the former Huddersfield Grammar School pupil who was snapped up by Manchester United as a youngster in good heart as he starts the countdown to his first meeting with Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

“I’ve never had a better debut than that,” reflected Campbell, who made just four first-team appearances while at Old Trafford but impressed in loan spells at Hull, then Tottenham to earn a £3.5m move to Sunderland in 2009.

“I was delighted to get out on the pitch and even more delighted to score. Coming to a new club, you can’t ask for much more.

“I was up at seven o’clock on the morning of the match because I was so excited.

“Now I need to get as fit as the rest of the lads here, because I haven’t played enough in recent seasons.”

Malky Mackay’s Cardiff have lost only once in 14 league matches and come to Huddersfield for the first time in 10 years seeking a sixth successive away win.
