Forest looked shell-shocked and after 19 minutes Danns was denied a second goal for Town by keeper Karl Darlow as the visitors continued to attack – but they were soon rocked back on their heels with two Forest goals in three minutes.

The first, on 21 minutes, came when Lansbury arrived late to meet a cross flicked on from the left, but while he missed his shot Polish midfielder Majewski met the ball and planted a firm drive past Alex Smithies.

The second goal came from a free kick after Norwood had fouled Majewski, and Andy Reid curled the ball in for Elliott Ward to glance a header home.

Town gained some respite when Sean Scannell hit a smart shot to bring a reaction save from Darlow, but Forest were soon back on the attack.
