JAMES VAUGHAN bagged his seventh goal of the season to earn battling Huddersfield Town their first away win since November and a first for new manager Mark Robins.

He pounced on the line after Burnley keeper Lee Grant spilled a shot from Calum Woods and sealed Town’s first double over the Clarets since 1950-51.

More importantly it gave his side three precious points in their battle for survival ahead of Saturday’s trip to Brighton.

Town, seeking their first win at Burnley in 41 years and their first away points of 2013, made two changes.

Derby loan striker Theo Robinson made his first start at the expense of Lee Novak, while boss Robins opted for the pace of Sean Scannell in the starting line-up and dropped Scott Arfield to the bench.

Big Alan Lee – who became a Clarets fans’ favourite in his short stay at the club 13 years ago – was restored to the substitutes, too, with Murray Wallace left out of the 18.

Burnley made just one change, preferring Danny Ings on the right wing instead of Junior Stanislas as they aimed to improve a record of five matches without a win including three defeats.

Anthony Gerrard was straight in the book for a foul on Danny Ings, but there was little creativity from either side in the first 20 minutes.

The biggest cheers came when Burnley sub Dane Richards was wrongly announced when he replaced the injured Dean Marney on eight minutes and then, a little while later, when home keeper Grant booted the ball clean over the touchline stand and into Harry Potts Way!

Keith Treacy was the biggest threat to Town and it was no surprise when he produced the first meaningful shot on 22, forcing Alex Smithies into a smart save low to his right.

Peter Clarke was again playing well and Oscar Gobern showing well in midfield, while James Vaughan did valuable work clearing Burnley set pieces in the first half hour.

Town were also down to 10 for a while when Gobern had to go off with a bleeding nose, soon being replaced by Arfield.

Burnley had the best chance of the first half on 43 when Treacy’s charged-down shot fell to Ings in the six yard box, but he scooped his shot wide under pressure from Gerrard.
