HUDDERSFIELD Town's Paul Dixon says he’s disappointed not to be in the Scotland squad, and has vowed to keep working on his club form to boost chances of playing for his country.

The left-back who impressed in Saturday’s 2-1 Championship win at Leeds has won three caps, all of them since joining Town last summer.

But the ex-Dundee and Dundee United man has yet to get a call from current boss Gordon Strachan, and is hoping that will change.

Scotland have World Cup qualifiers against Wales at Hampden on Friday, when his Town teammate Joel Lynch could play for the visitors, and Serbia in Novi Sad a week tonight.

“I wish the boys all the best, and while I’m disappointed not to have been called up, I’d just like to say I’m always available,” smiled the 26-year-old, whose last game was in Luxembourg in November.

“I’m proud to have played once, never mind three times. I always hoped moving into the Championship would help me, but for an international call-up to happen so soon was brilliant.

“Obviously Town pay my wages, and I want to do the best I can for the club, but if that helps me play more international games, all the better.”

While Lynch is with Wales, whose other game is at home to Croatia a week tonight, fellow Town defender Murray Wallace will be with Scotland Under 21s for their European Championship qualifier against Luxembourg in Paisley on Monday.

Loan duo Jermaine Beckford and Theo Robinson have jetted out to Jamaica for World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Costa Rica.

Town have an Under 21 game against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground today (1.00).
