HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Mark Robins will be more than happy to see Joel Lynch finally add to his one Welsh cap.

The Town defender has been a regular in the international squad, but has been forced to pull out through injury each time since making his debut in the 2-0 defeat by Bosnia and Hercegovina at Llanelli in August, soon after he joined Town from Nottingham Forest.

Now defender Lynch, 25, is with Chris Coleman’s pool for the Hampden showdown with Scotland tomorrow and the follow-up World Cup qualifier against Croatia in Cardiff on Tuesday.

And Robins, himself a former England Under 21 player, said: "It’s great for Joel and the club that he’s been able to join up.

"Of course you want all your international players to come back fit, but the concern is outweighed by the benefits of them being involved."

Ex-Brighton man Lynch was born in Eastbourne but qualifies for Wales through his Barry-born father and came off the bench in the 78th minute against the Bosnians after being an unused substitute for the 2-0 friendly defeat by Mexico in New Jersey in May.

He has made 22 Town appearances, and if he plays for Wales, could well be facing former teammate Jordan Rhodes, who is pushing for a Scotland start.

Wales are confident star man Gareth Bale, who notched both goals in the 2-1 home win over the Scots in October, will beat an ankle knock to feature in Glasgow.

And ex-Town favourite Barry Horne is backing them to complete a double.

"I expect Wales to win," said the former midfielder who won 59 caps for the country. "We have better players than them. That is the top and bottom of it.

"The Scots will have a decent and passionate crowd, but we have got the better players..

"Then we need to do something against Croatia because the two away games so far were very poor.

"I hate to say it, but realistically if the campaign has not gone for us completely, it has certainly started to slip away from us. We have to be brutally honest about that."
