MARK ROBINS watched Huddersfield Town suffer more heartache at Bolton but insisted: “If we produce six more performances like that we’ll be fine.”

Chris Eagles’ 58th-minute goal at the Reebok Stadium kept Town in the Championship relegation zone and made the stakes even higher when Peterborough United come to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

“I’m frustrated we haven’t picked up at least a point, but I have to say I am proud of the players,” said Robins.

“They gave everything, passed the ball well, kept the ball well and created chance after chance.

“Sean Scannell looked dangerous, Danny Ward looked dangerous, James Vaughan gave them problems all night and Oscar Gobern is really starting to make his presence felt in the middle.

“One mistake has cost us but if we perform like that between now and the end of the season, I can’t see a problem.”

Robins was quick to absolve skipper Peter Clarke from blame after his slip let in Marvin Sordell to tee up goalscorer Eagles.

“Pete stumbled then tried to keep the ball in play when he might have been better putting it out,” said Robins.

“He has apologised to myself and the players, but he has been magnificent ever since I arrived and everyone knows his character.”

Robins hailed Town’s loud travelling fans, adding: “They were brilliant and hopefully they will stay with us between now and the end of the season because they can play a big role.”

Robins, who made two changes to his starting line-up – including Bolton old boy Danny Ward and Sean Scannell for suspended Adam Clayton and Jermaine Beckford – will today check on right-back Jack Hunt, who was forced off early in the game with a hamstring problem.
