SEAN SCANNELL is backing old mate Wilfried Zaha to be a big hit at Manchester United – after helping Crystal Palace join them in the Premier League.

Town’s former Palace wideman is optimistic that despite being held goalless in the semi-final first leg at Selhurst Park, his old club can get the better of Brighton on the South coast tonight and make the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Wonder winger Zaha will link up with new manager David Moyes at Old Trafford for pre-season training after joining United in January but being loaned back to Palace for the remainder of this campaign.

“He’s an amazing player who is getting better,” said Croydon-born Scannell of the England international.

“I’m a Town man now. While I’m still a long way from being a Northerner, I’m enjoying life up here, but Palace are my home team. A lot of my friends are fans and I still keep in touch with many of the lads, including Wilf.

“I’d like to see Palace get back to the Premier League – if they reach the play-off final, I plan to be there to watch – but Wilf is going there whatever, and I think he’ll take the division by storm!”
