HUDDERSFIELD Town have been handed a sizzling home derby draw in the Capital One Cup against last season's beaten finalists Bradford City.

Phil Parkinson's promoted side will visit the John Smith's Stadium in the first full week of August, after Town have opened their Championship campaign on Saturday, August 3.

Town, of course, bowed out at the first-round stage last season when they were defeated 2-0 at Preston North End under Simon Grayson, and this season's tie is sure to prove another test.

Bradford - looking forward to life back in League I - will bring a large following of fans down the M606 for a first meeting between the two clubs since the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie in 2011-12, when it finished 2-2 at the John Smith's before Bradford went through on penalties.

The Valley Parade side made two visits to Wembley last season, losing 5-0 in the Capital One Cup final at Premiership Swansea City - after they had knocked out Wigan Athletic, Arsenal and Aston Villa en route to the showpiece - and then returned to win the League II play-off final against Aidy Boothroyd's Northampton Town.

The last time Town and Bradford clashed in this competition, the old League Cup, was in 2008-09 when Town won 4-0 in front of  a crowd of 8,932.
