ANTHONY GERRARD is set to miss out on Huddersfield Town’s Spanish training camp.

The centre-back is under treatment for a calf injury picked up early in pre-season training and is due to remain in England when Mark Robins takes a 26-strong squad to Marbella on Monday.

It’s a four-night stay, with Town returning in time to face Chesterfield in their opening pre-season friendly at the Proact Stadium a week today.

Frustrated Gerrard faces another fortnight of rehabilitation work because of a grade two muscle tear.

With the Championship opener at Nottingham Forest just four weeks away, the 31-year-old has his work cut out to make the start of the season.

Signed from Cardiff a year ago, Gerrard made 37 starts and six substitute appearances last season, most of them alongside skipper Peter Clarke.

Robins has other centre-back options in Joel Lynch and Murray Wallace.

New signings James Vaughan, Martin Paterson, Jon Stead, Adam Hammill, Daniel Carr and Jake Carroll are all on the Spanish trip.
