Davy disappointed by demonstration

KEN DAVY is doubly disappointed after fans demonstrated in the wake of Town's 3-2 defeat by Yeovil.

Saturday's home setback left Peter Jackson's men 19th in League I, just two places and two points above the dreaded bottom four.

The club's seventh match without a win was witnessed by 9,573, the lowest home league crowd since January 2005, when a 1-1 League I draw with Torquay drew 9,194.

And afterwards, around 100 fans vented their frustration outside the main entrance to the Galpharm Stadium, with chants including "We are football, not rugby league."

Davy, chairman of both Town and Huddersfield Giants RL Club and the man who led the football club out of administration three years ago, emerged from the boardroom to meet the demonstrators.

Flanked by police, he spent around 15 minutes attempting to answer questions before heading for his car and driving away from the stadium.

"I was hoping to be able to hold a discussion with the fans and answer questions, but it didn't prove possible as I was hardly able to finish one answer fully," he said.

"All the people who were out there are passionate about Huddersfield Town, and the passion is something which is good to have.

"I recognise they wanted to make their feelings clear, and I have no problem with that.

"Unfortunately they were expressed in a manner which, in hindsight, they might reflect was not the most practical way of going forward."
