Steve Black column: Consistency is the key

HI EVERYONE. I hope you’re all well and looking forward to the game against Swindon at ‘Fortress Galpharm’ tomorrow.

Last week’s visit to Northampton, played on a pitch that became increasingly slippy underfoot as the afternoon wore on, was a sterling encounter where a last-second ... not last-minute but last-second ... goal deprived us of the three points we probably deserved.

Northampton are a big physical team with good spirit, and on that tight Sixfields pitch, they are a handful. They have lost only twice there this season, and I can understand why.

Saying that, a super Phil Jevons free-kick got our noses in front and from that position, we expected to go on and win the game.

It wasn’t to be, but a further point was gained, and that’s what we’ve got to keep doing ... lots of wins and a few draws ... chipping away week-by-week.

Remember at the start of every game we can win it! The deeper the belief the greater our collective reward, and one of those rewards is consistency.
