Steve Black column: We'll learn from last two matches

HI EVERYONE. Well, we’ve had an eventful week! Results-wise collectively disappointing but still some great lessons to be learned to take forward and use in the team’s quest for success.

The first lesson from Saturday’s game against runaway league leaders Leicester down at their impressive Walkers Stadium was that we are definitely as good as any team in this league.

We played some excellent football and once again created a string of chances ... which on the day we didn’t take ... but there’ll be many other days and once we start taking them someone is in for the proverbial good hiding!

The two excellent goals we scored I didn’t include in those chances by the way, as they were both special moments of individual skill and athleticism.

Phil Jevons had scored one like that overhead kick on the training field the other day and as I was talking to another player at the time I missed it!

So he kindly offered to repeat the feat on matchday so that I wouldn’t miss out. What a thoughtful lad!

A superbly athletic leap and another goal for Jevo – our fans loved it (they were once again superb in their support, thanks from us all).

Our second goal was another outstanding finish from the exciting Keigan Parker.

When he received the ball he seemed tightly marked, but he shimmied and turned to curl the ball beyond the keeper. Superb!

Leicester stuck at it and came away with the points. The 4-2 scoreline flattered them, but they are a good well-rounded balanced side with a tried and tested gameplan that is delivering for them.

We had a quick turnaround before our long visit to Yeovil on Tuesday evening.

After a defeat the chance to get straight back on the horse is always gleefully accepted. We prepared well on Sunday and Monday and whilst the five-hour bus journey is always a challenge, we arrived at our hotel in good spirits ready to embrace the task at hand.
