M62: The commute from hell or a journey to enjoy?

Watch our video of a drive you either love or hate but which reveals some of the finest views in England

A trip on the M62 can be a tortuous journey at any time of the year but, as our video shows, it can also be a pleasure and reveal some of the finest views to be found on any stretch of road in Britain.

We've all been stuck on the M62 cursing our luck but if you get a good run on a fine day then the sight of stunning hilltops, deep valleys and a wonderful big sky can put a smile on the face of even the most-hardened of motorists.

Rishworth quickly appears to the left before we reach the familiar landmark of Scapecoat Hill and Nettleton Hill with the welcoming site of the Emley Moor mast a striking landmark in the distance.

Junction 23 provides the main route into Huddersfield but it's the next one that we take as we aim for the Examiner office in Bradley which we reach just 10 minutes after leaving the M62.

Yes, it can be a commuters' nightmare but it is also a showcase for some of the finest scenery in West Yorkshire and indeed England!
