A fun run at Savile Park, Halifax, has had to be cancelled today because of torrential rain this morning at 11am.

Four hundred and seventy-five runners were due to take part in the fundraising run which involves having coloured, powdered paint thrown at them every kilometre of the 5km run.

There was due to be music and a party afterwards but an inspection at 8am meant the run could not go ahead.

Events fundraiser Rebecca Gill said: "Unfortunately the conditions were not safe so we took the decision to postpone it until another day.

"We had quite a lot of parents coming with children but it was just not appropriate. Everyone took the decision in a good spirit and people were very positive saying it would give them some more time to raise sponsorship money."
