Police are hunting for a man who stabbed a Santander Bank member of staff during an attempted robbery on Friday afternoon.

The attack took place at 3.50pm on one of Huddersfield's busiest shopping street - King Street.

Kirklees CID say during a scuffle with staff a male member of staff suffered two deep stab wounds to his right hand.

Although the injuries are not life-threatening they will require surgery.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man who was wearing a dark-hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

Following the incident the suspect ran up King Street and then along Cloth Hall Street. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who can help should ring 101 quoting log 1034 of 18/12/15.
