HOLROYD & CO Solicitors and Estate Agents, now one of Huddersfield’s best known firms, has just celebrated its 25th birthday.

The occasion was marked by a party at the firm’s John William Street office which was attended by a number of clients who had been with the firm since its doors first opened back in 1985.

The senior partner, Richard Bennett, introduced three solicitors who have recently joined the practice to expand the commercial and family teams.

Mark Green, formerly a partner in local firm Bailey Smailes, is a specialist family lawyer and litigator and one of a small number of solicitors locally qualified in collaborative law which encourages couples to resolve their differences more quickly and cost effectively than attending court.

Julie Blackburn is a specialist property solicitor with over 15 years experience who has recently joined Richard in the commercial department to deal with the increasing demand for the firm’s commercial and commercial property expertise.

Alison Horsfield is a solicitor specialising in corporate recovery and insolvency work.

Richard confirmed that this type of work is an important part of the services to be provided by any commercial team and was delighted that Alison could now provide a level of expertise in this area which sets Holroyd & Co apart from most other local firms. He said that Alison can provide specialist advice to directors, partners and sole traders who face financial difficulties as well as advising on all aspects of insolvency law.

He was hopeful that local businesses would be keen to benefit from Alison’s expertise.

Holroyd & Co Solicitors and Estate Agents

The estate agency branch of Holroyd & Co has now been trading since 2001 and, despite the current difficult market conditions continues to work seamlessly with the firm’s specialist conveyancing department to provide a high quality and cost effective service allied to an ever increasing portfolio of managed properties.

Holroyd & Co are unique locally as both estate agents and solicitors and feel that their clients benefit from this true combined service rather than simply offering a combined fee as would many other agents.

David Walsh, also a partner at Holroyd & Co, was pleased to introduce Robert Pearson as an additional member of his financial services team.

David is, again uniquely, in Huddersfield, dual qualified as a solicitor and independent financial adviser and, together with Robert can provide advice on investments, l i f e assurance and pensions.

David also heads the f i rm’s private client department which, with Joan Beedle and Lisa Oldham provide a comprehensive service dealing with Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications, wills, probate and tax advice.

Joan Beedle, the firm’s longest standing employee has developed the private client department over the past 24 years and provides a sensitive expert and comprehensive service to all clients and their families.

Natalie Gibson, a solicitor specialising in all aspects of family and care law said that the firm was very proud to have served the people of Huddersfield for the past 25 years and to have built up such a loyal client base. Natalie confirmed that everyone at Holroyd&Co would like to thank all their valued clients with whom the firm has worked over the past 25 years.

She commented that we all understand that consulting a solicitor can be a stressful time, perhaps following a bereavement or marriage break up and that we always do our best to treat all clients with care and compassion whilst providing them with a professional service in all areas of law.
