NESTLING alongside the River Holme just two minutes walk from Holmfirth's bustling village centre, Indya is an award-winning Indian restaurant which has become a firm favourite with diners from far and wide.

While enjoying the pleasant surroundings and splendid views of the world-famous Summer Wine town, you can feast on a fine selection of culinary delights. All dishes are home-made and freshly produced to order by experienced chefs Chanda Bhalla and Chetan Varma, following traditional Northern Indian recipes and using only the best quality ingredients.

Front of house manager Anita Bhalla said there had been a "tremendous" response from customers in the three years since the restaurant opened at Stable Court, Huddersfield Road.

Indya was named restaurant of the year in the 2007 Yorkshire Post awards and has also achieved the coveted 5/5 Kirklees MC 'scores on the doors' Hygiene Star Rating.

A new regular feature is the family Sunday menu, available from 5.30-10pm, including Easter Sunday, from £9.95 adults, £4.95 children.

The restaurant is also introducing an early bird menu, with a special offer price from £9.95 per person or the option of three courses + any coffee for £12.50, Wednesday and Thursday 6-11pm, Friday 5.30-7.30pm and Saturday 5.30-6.30pm.

Another great deal is the value set meal for two to take out, available every night, priced £14.95 - a saving of £4. For take-outs, there is also a free beer offer.

Indya will be open on Easter Monday with the early bird menu and looking further ahead, the family Sunday menu will be available on Father's Day, June 20.

Recommended dishes include: Starters - Channa Chaat (V) - homemade vegetable samosa served with curried chick peas, red onions, homemade spicy yoghurt and garnished with tamarind sauce and coriander. Machi Pakora, marinated cod fillets fried in crisp spiced gram flour batter served with a home-made tomato chutney.

Main courses - Chef's Special - Keema Mutter - minced lamb cooked with peas in a stir fried spicy sauce. Stuffed Aubergines (V) - baby aubergines stuffed with an onion relish and served with okra and new potatoes.

A kids' menu is available with each main menu and all children receive a puzzles and colouring pack.

You can book the whole of the restaurant for a private party or book the staff to do the catering for a special event at your home or other venue.

Indya supports the NSPCC and hosts many other charity events, for which special rates apply.
