Time to say goodbye

IT IS little more than a year since Waking the Witch, one of the most acclaimed bands to have come out of Yorkshire in recent years, wowed audiences in Holmfirth.

Now the band, which won the Folk Roots Performer of the Year category of the 2007 Classic Rock Society Awards, has decided to call it a day after five years on the road. The farewell tour starts tomorrow.

The four-piece band are known for their song-writing talents and for their harmonies and their lush acoustic guitar style.

Leeds-based Patsy Matheson, Jools Parker and Becky Mills and Harrogate's Rachel Goodwin start a national tour tomorrow and have included gigs on home territory to give local fans a chance to say goodbye. They will also at the Square Chapel in Halifax on March 29.

“We’ve had a fantastic time and are really proud of what we’ve achieved but we all feel it’s time to pursue other things and spend more time with our families,” said Patsy.
